MaterialsLP Smartside: LP Smartside is an engineered wood product that is designed to withstand abuse from weather while still providing a maintenance free solution. It's resistance to moisture and impact give Smartside benefits of both Cedar and Vinyl siding.Vinyl: Vinyl Siding is the epitome of a maintenance free exterior. The majority of new homes that are built have vinyl siding installed on them. It is typically the cheapest route for siding in general.Steel: Steel Siding is installed the same way as vinyl, but the result is a much stronger product. Hail will not punch holes in it and it holds up to things like rocks from your lawn mower much better than vinyl or aluminum.Shakes:Cedar: Cedar Shingles are typically installed with a 5"-7" exposure on walls. They are available in a wide variety of grades and styles. Fancy Cuts are special designed shingles, and come in diamond, round, fish scale, arrow, and many others. By applying the heavy duty Sikkens finishing system, your cedar siding will have a thick barrier protecting it from the weather, while at the same time letting the natural beauty shine through.Insulated: Insulated Siding uses a foam backer, either glue applied, friction fit, or drop in, to increase the R-value of your wall. It is a great solution for houses built with the old standard 2 x 4 walls. Insulated Siding cuts down on your energy bill and also provides rigid protection against hail and other projectiles.Aluminum Soffit & Fascia: Aluminum Soffit & Fascia is installed to cover roof overhangs and transition between roofing and siding. It also provides proper ventilation and keeps birds and squirrels out of the rafters.InstallationHouse Wrap: House Wrap is required by building code in order to keep moisture off of exterior walls while still allowing the house to "breathe". It must be taped to seal the building envelope. House Wrap is to siding as Ice & Water Shield is to roofing, a prevention of rot.Flashing: Another item that has saved thousands of homes from rot is the Kickout Flashing. The Kickout Flashing is installed at the bottom of every roof slope that meets a wall. It diverts water away from the wall and prevents it from getting behind the siding and rotting the wall. Kickout Flashings are required by building code and we install them on almost every job. Rot! Oh No!Here is an example of a house that had no kickout flashing. When the siding was taken off, the rot was revealed. Simple SolutionThe rotted sheathing is replaced and an aluminum flashing is installed on the wall before we seal it up with house wrap and tape. Add a kickout flashing and the wall will never rot again! |
